Learn Capital is a venture capital firm dedicated to the global education technology industry, investing in early-stage companies involved in the creation, delivery, management, and scaling of learning experiences and educational access for students of all ages worldwide. Since launching its inaugural fund in 2009, Learn has backed companies that have achieved leadership positions in multiple high-growth education markets, including Bridge International Academies, Edmodo, Coursera, General Assembly, Udemy, and VIPKID.

Job Description:

Talent is the lifeblood of great companies, and finding the right hire can permanently change the trajectory of a growing company. In this role, you’ll partner closely with the entrepreneurs and executive teams in our portfolio, as well as our own VC partners. Many of the growing companies in our portfolio need excellent recruits but do not have the capability to run a search, or hire the right search partner; which is where you come in. As the Senior Talent Manager at Learn Capital, you’ll be at the forefront of those company-defining moments, by identifying and placing the exceptional “first hire in x department” across the Learn Capital portfolio.

Our Portfolio Operations team provides extensive resources and support to accelerate the success of companies in the Learn Capital family. We do that by connecting founders and their teams with talent, customers, and expertise.

Your Responsibilities:

•Able to partner with founders and recruiting heads in the Learn Capital portfolio to understand their critical hiring needs. •Able to source great talent from vice president through senior manager roles across the Learn Capital portfolio. •Able to build an extensive network of talent to activate at the right time. •Able to work closely with our founders advising on their HR, Recruiting, and People Operations challenges and opportunities. Core topics include talent acquisition, compensation and equity, benefits, DEI, employee relations, employer branding, change management, culture, and L&D. •Able to diagnose the root cause of human capital needs in portfolio companies, develop a path for addressing the challenges, and help them implement those., including by introducing them to expert advisors and firms for more specialized or dedicated support. •Have experience working with and in support of underrepresented communities.

Candidate Background:

•Experienced recruiter: you have 5-7 years of recruiting experience, ideally in the startup ecosystem. •Great communicator: you are confident and poised, and able to communicate with candidates ranging from recent graduates to senior leaders. •Organization & prioritization: you’re able to handle multiple, concurrent searches and projects. •Curious about technology: you’re interested in the tech ecosystem, and use that curiosity to become a better recruiter. You also want to learn about venture capital investing and are excited to learn why a particular investment is compelling. •Constant optimizer: you value thorough output and velocity, and are the kind of person who is always looking for a better way to get things done.
