Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Technical Program Manager to lead the development and execution of the communication backbone that enables remote assistance capabilities across its autonomous vehicle fleet.

In this role, you’ll oversee the lifecycle of mission-critical teleoperation and connectivity systems that support vehicle operations in complex real-world environments. You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams to drive strategic initiatives spanning networking, communications infrastructure, cloud services, and vehicle systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical acumen, exceptional program leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional engineering programs at scale.

As a Technical Program Manager, you'll:
  • Lead end-to-end program management for large-scale, cross-functional engineering initiatives, from strategic planning through execution and delivery.
  • Partner with senior engineering and product leaders to define roadmaps, align priorities, and drive key business and technical objectives.
  • Drive the development and evolution of program management frameworks, processes, and best practices across the organization.
  • Coordinate complex dependencies across multiple engineering teams, external partners, and business stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate program risks while managing escalations and critical decision points.
  • Communicate program status, risks, dependencies, and accomplishments to technical teams, leadership, and executive stakeholders.
  • Participate in technical planning and architecture discussions, helping evaluate feasibility, sequencing, tradeoffs, and delivery risks.
  • Support the successful deployment and operation of networking, communications, and cloud-based systems that enable autonomous vehicle operations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in technical program management, with a proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional engineering programs
  • Deep experience managing large-scale software, platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems programs throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Strong technical foundation with the ability to participate in architecture discussions, understand system design tradeoffs, and evaluate technical risk
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills
  • Experience building or improving program management processes, tooling, and operational frameworks
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity, drive alignment, and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to support technical decision-making, program execution, and operational efficiency
  • Understanding of agentic AI systems and how AI-enabled workflows can support complex programs
  • Knowledge of wireless and networking technologies, including 4G/5G, multi-WAN architectures, TCP/IP, UDP, NAT traversal, and network security concepts
  • Experience working with distributed data systems and cloud technologies, including Kafka, Protobuf, API-driven architectures, and AWS services
  • This role will require safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading infrastructure, platform, networking, or communications-focused engineering programs
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and distributed systems architectures
  • PMP, PgMP, Agile, Scrum, or related program management certifications
  • Previous experience in software engineering, networking, systems engineering, or another technical discipline
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting autonomous vehicles, robotics, telecommunications, or other highly integrated technology platforms

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be hybrid, requiring at least three days per week onsite, and is available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.
