HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Validation Engineer, Controller Integration to support the validation, integration, and performance verification of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) across autonomous vehicle platforms.
In this role, you’ll validate incoming firmware and hardware updates, support vehicle controller integration activities, and help ensure the reliability and performance of critical vehicle systems. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with systems, firmware, manufacturing, and vehicle engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, develop test strategies, and support the successful deployment of autonomous vehicle technologies.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, collaborative, and experienced working with complex vehicle controllers, embedded systems, and electrical diagnostics.
As a Validation Engineer, Controller Integration, you'll:
As a Validation Engineer, Controller Integration, you'll:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop validation strategies for ECU hardware and firmware integration.
- Develop and execute test plans supporting controller integration, firmware validation, and vehicle-level system verification activities.
- Validate bootloader, power management, network communication, and controller functionality requirements.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and system-level issues within manufacturing and operational fleet environments.
- Partner with vehicle systems engineering teams to investigate design issues and develop long-term corrective solutions.
- Analyze logs, telemetry, and source code to support debugging and root cause analysis activities.
- Support system bring-up, controller integration, and vehicle-level validation testing.
- Develop prototype test benches, validation tooling, and early-stage testing solutions for new technologies.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to stay aligned on evolving hardware and software changes.
- Travel internationally on a limited basis as needed.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of experience in controller validation, integration, or embedded systems testing
- Experience diagnosing controlled systems and vehicle networks, including CAN, LIN, or Ethernet communication issues
- Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar engineering and analysis tools
- Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, power supplies, sensors, and data acquisition equipment
- Familiarity with Jira and related workflow or dashboard tools
- Strong electronics fundamentals and experience working with ECUs and electrical debugging activities
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to travel internationally if needed
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with vector tools and automotive communication analysis platforms
- Familiarity with data acquisition and validation systems
- Knowledge of failure analysis, validation methodologies, and risk assessment practices
- Experience automating controller verification and validation workflows
