Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer-Autonomous Test Fleet & Robotaxi Pre-Production to support vehicle quality, issue resolution, and build readiness across autonomous fleet and pre-production manufacturing operations.

In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of engineering and production, leading the rapid containment, investigation, and resolution of issues identified during vehicle assembly and end-of-line validation. You’ll partner closely with manufacturing, design, supplier, and vehicle engineering teams to improve build quality, production efficiency, and overall fleet reliability.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, execution-focused, and experienced leading cross-functional issue resolution efforts within complex manufacturing or vehicle development environments.

As a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer-Autonomous Test Fleet & Robotaxi Pre-Production, you'll:
  • Lead triage, containment, and resolution activities for issues identified during vehicle assembly and end-of-line testing across autonomous fleet and pre-production robotaxi builds.
  • Define and execute short-term containment actions, including rework plans, part quarantines, and production flow protection activities.
  • Drive root cause analysis efforts across design, supplier, manufacturing, process, and vehicle integration domains.
  • Partner cross-functionally to implement permanent corrective actions and prevent issue recurrence.
  • Support prototype builds, engineering changes, production trials, and validation activities to improve manufacturability and vehicle quality.
  • Identify production blockers, escalate critical risks, and support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, issue tracking metrics, closure reporting, and process improvements supporting issue resolution workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, supplier, and engineering teams to improve operational readiness and fleet reliability.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
  • 6+ years of experience within automotive, robotics, aviation, or other complex hardware manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, wiring harnesses, ECUs, sensors, compute hardware, and mechanical systems
  • Experience leading root cause investigations and corrective actions within manufacturing, production, field, or new product launch environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and cross-functional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced production and engineering environments
  • Strong communication, organizational, and execution skills
  • This role will require safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Lean, Six Sigma, or production process optimization methodologies
  • Experience supporting autonomous vehicle, robotics, EV, or advanced vehicle systems programs
  • Familiarity with tools such as 3DX (Dassault), DELMIA, SAP ME/MII, Jira, Confluence, SQL, Python, or data visualization platforms
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, production ramp activities, or vehicle launch programs

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Fremont, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
