HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Test Engineer - Baseline to support manual and automated testing for Baseline, a mission-critical web application supporting autonomous vehicle operations.
In this role, you’ll bridge the gap between software validation and physical vehicle systems by supporting release validation, vehicle mission testing, hardware troubleshooting, and test automation efforts. You’ll work closely with engineering, QA, and operations teams to ensure reliable, high-quality releases across complex software and vehicle environments.
The ideal candidate is technically sharp, highly collaborative, and comfortable troubleshooting both software and hardware-related issues within fast-paced operational environments.
As a Test Engineer - Baseline, you'll:
As a Test Engineer - Baseline, you'll:
- Develop, maintain, and expand Playwright automation test cases to improve regression coverage across Baseline workflows and features.
- Perform manual testing for new features, releases, hotfixes, and pre-merge validations.
- Conduct vehicle mission testing and evaluate workflows from an operational and system-level perspective.
- Support defect triage activities by identifying, reproducing, isolating, and validating issues across development, staging, and production environments.
- Utilize vehicle troubleshooting workflows and diagnostic tools to investigate software, hardware, and system-level issues.
- Create clear, actionable bug reports with detailed reproduction steps and supporting technical information for engineering and product teams.
- Partner cross-functionally with developers, QA leads, product managers, and operations teams to ensure test completeness and release readiness.
- Provide QA validation and release sign-off while maintaining detailed test documentation and traceability to requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging AI tools and automation-first testing approaches to improve QA efficiency and workflows.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline
- 1-2 years of experience in QA, software testing, or test engineering roles supporting complex applications or systems
- Experience with industry-standard testing and defect-tracking tools such as JIRA and TestRail
- Working knowledge of UDS, CAN, and Ethernet communication protocols
- Hands-on experience with vehicle troubleshooting workflows and system-level diagnostics
- Familiarity with autonomous vehicle components including LiDAR, radar, cameras, and EV powertrain systems
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and operate effectively in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a detail-oriented, automation-first mindset
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python
- Hands-on experience developing automated tests using Playwright
- Experience supporting autonomous vehicle, robotics, automotive, or embedded systems environments
