The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, collaborative, and experienced in supplier quality systems, APQP, and manufacturing process development within regulated industries.

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you'll:
  • Partner with Engineering and Strategic Sourcing teams to assess manufacturability, support supplier selection, and evaluate supplier readiness for prototype and production vehicle builds.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on technical drawing reviews, CAD evaluations, manufacturing feasibility assessments, and the development of new manufacturing processes when needed.
  • Lead Supplier Industrialization Roadmap (SIR) activities, including product and process development, capability assessments, tooling and fixturing validation, and production readiness reviews.
  • Manage APQP and PPAP activities from initial design through start of production (SOP), including supplier onboarding, quality documentation reviews, and supplier quality portal support.
  • Lead RCCA investigations, support containment and corrective actions, and partner cross-functionally on supplier material investigations, MRB activities, and manufacturing issue resolution.
  • Analyze supplier quality metrics including FAI reports, SPC data, Cp/Cpk studies, and process capability metrics to drive continuous improvement across the supply base.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of supplier quality systems, supplier assessments, manufacturing processes, and part approval procedures using lean manufacturing and quality methodologies.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 40%, occasionally on short notice.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or quality engineering within automotive, aviation, medical device, or similar regulated industries
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and developing or improving quality systems and manufacturing processes
  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, supplier industrialization, and product launch processes
  • Experience using problem-solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, 8D, Pareto analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, DOE, Fishbone analysis, or Red-X
  • Experience with process control tools including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and Process Capability studies
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, and electromechanical assembly
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles, tooling validation, fixture qualification, and supplier manufacturing processes
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and automotive standards such as ISO 9000 and IATF 16949
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with Google Workspace preferred
  • This role will require safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green Belt, Quality Systems Auditor, or similar certifications
  • Experience conducting supplier assessments and supplier capability audits
  • Experience supporting prototype and production ramp activities within complex manufacturing environments
  • Experience working with global suppliers and cross-functional manufacturing organizations

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
