HireArt is helping our client find an Autonomous Vehicle Technician to support the deployment, sustainment, and operational readiness of their autonomous systems in the field.
In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting deployed systems, ensuring fleet availability, and serving as a technical representative alongside customers during operations, demonstrations, and fielding events. You will act as the front-line expert for the client's platforms, owning system performance in real-world environments and ensuring issues are diagnosed and resolved quickly.
The ideal candidate has hands-on technical ability across hardware and software, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate independently in dynamic and often austere environments.
In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting deployed systems, ensuring fleet availability, and serving as a technical representative alongside customers during operations, demonstrations, and fielding events. You will act as the front-line expert for the client's platforms, owning system performance in real-world environments and ensuring issues are diagnosed and resolved quickly.

As an Autonomous Vehicle Technician, you will:
- Maintain operational readiness of deployed systems through inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-level issues in real-world environments; execute timely and effective repairs.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact in the field, working directly with customers to resolve issues and ensure system performance.
- Support system installation, configuration, integration, and fielding at customer locations.
- Track, document, and manage maintenance actions, service logs, and system status across the deployed fleet.
- Coordinate with engineering and product teams to escalate issues, provide detailed feedback, and support root cause analysis.
- Support customer demonstrations, evaluations, and operational deployments, ensuring systems are mission-ready and professionally presented.
- Manage spare parts, tools, and field support equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
- Train and advise operators on system use, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Assist in developing maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and field support processes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to safely operate vehicles for extended periods of time
- Hands-on mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, and diagnostic software tools
- Ability to follow detailed procedures, checklists, and safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify/report issues accurately
- Ability to lift equipment and work in garage, warehouse, or outdoor environments
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience performing vehicle inspections, maintenance, or repairs
- Familiarity with sensors, cameras, LiDAR, radar, or onboard vehicle systems
- Experience troubleshooting hardware/software issues
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely
- Experience documenting work performed in ticketing or maintenance systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related field) or equivalent hands-on experience
- 1+ years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or supporting complex electromechanical, robotic, or autonomous systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
- Experience diagnosing issues in the field and independently driving resolution under time pressure
- Ability to interface directly with customers and represent the company in operational environments
- Experience documenting maintenance actions, system issues, and service activities in a structured manner
