HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire an engineering-focused Vehicle Technician to support the readiness of its fleet vehicles.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support fleet readiness, optimize maintenance processes, and deliver a high-quality service experience across autonomous vehicle operations.
We’re looking for candidates with strong fleet maintenance and diagnostic experience, a track record of performing high-quality repairs, and at least 2 years of hands-on technician experience in automotive or related technical environments.
Available Shifts:
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support fleet readiness, optimize maintenance processes, and deliver a high-quality service experience across autonomous vehicle operations.

As a Vehicle Technician, you'll:
- Configure, set up, maintain, diagnose, and sign off on vehicles to ensure safe on-road operation.
- Partner with the Shop Foreman and cross-functional teams to ensure vehicles remain in a “ready” state for demonstrations, testing, and fleet operations.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis across vehicle systems, escalating complex issues to engineering teams when needed.
- Coordinate and drive vehicle repair activities from diagnosis through resolution.
- Develop and execute diagnostic test plans to support troubleshooting and validation efforts.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and quality field reports.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to fleet maintenance, diagnostics, and operational readiness.
- Maintain shop organization, tool readiness, and a clean, safe working environment.
- Assist with parts inventory management, organization, and tracking.
- Deliver a high-quality service experience for internal teams and business partners.
- Travel locally as needed to support fleet maintenance and operational activities.
Requirements
- 2+ years of technician experience
- Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles/automotive systems
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must pass a background check, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check, and drug screen
- Must comply with the Substance Abuse policy
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and deliverables
- Reliable self-starter with a "roll up the sleeves" work ethic
- An outstanding communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
- Must be honest and responsible with a team player spirit
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and sit/stand for extended periods (8+ hours) depending on the equipment type
- Ability to obtain and successfully pass company-provided forklift and/or gantry operator certification after hire, in compliance with Cal/OSHA standards
- This role will require safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an automotive-focused engineering, testing, or research environment (e.g., dyno labs, battery labs, or vehicle development facilities)
- Familiarity with CAN systems, wiring diagrams, and soldering techniques
- Experience towing car haulers or large trailers used to transport fleet vehicles
- Technical trade school certification or an associate degree in automotive repair or a related field
- Ability to travel locally and nationally (on occasion)
