HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire an Equipment Engineer - Service to support the planning, development, implementation, and sustainment of equipment across vehicle service centers.
In this role, you’ll help scale service operations by developing OEM-level tooling, equipment, and processes that improve serviceability, ergonomics, efficiency, and repair quality. You’ll partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to drive equipment development from concept through deployment and sustainment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong mechanical aptitude, experience designing tooling and fixtures, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced product development and manufacturing environments.

As an Equipment Engineer - Service, you'll:
- Develop and implement automotive service and assembly equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
- Identify tooling and equipment improvement opportunities by partnering with cross-functional teams on process changes and operational needs.
- Define tooling, automation, and equipment requirements to support service and manufacturing operations.
- Evaluate part and assembly designs for ergonomics, tooling access, serviceability, manufacturability, and repair feasibility.
- Design and prototype equipment such as hand tools, jigs, fixtures, lift assists, and automated systems using CAD tools.
- Manage external manufacturing and automation partners supporting equipment development and deployment.
- Collaborate with internal and external suppliers to resolve ergonomic, tooling, and assembly-related issues.
- Maintain and continuously improve equipment specifications, documentation, and preventive maintenance plans.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of tooling and equipment-related issues.
- Develop time and cost analyses to support process improvements, cost reduction, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Travel up to 20% to local service and testing sites as needed.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related role within a manufacturing or product development environment
- Experience with tooling and fixture design, automation specifications, and lift assist/industrial manipulator systems
- Familiarity with CAD and engineering tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and SAP
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience presenting cost analyses and process improvement recommendations
- Ability to travel up to 20% to local worksites as needed
- This role will require safety boots that conform to ASTM F2412 / F2413 requirements
