Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire an Electrical Engineer - Serviceability to support Design for Serviceability initiatives across vehicle electrical and electronic systems.

In this role, you’ll help ensure vehicle systems are designed for efficient diagnostics, maintenance, and repair. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, validation, and field service teams to develop and refine diagnostic strategies, service procedures, and troubleshooting tools that improve the serviceability and maintainability of vehicle systems.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail-oriented engineer with strong electrical systems knowledge and an interest in vehicle diagnostics and serviceability.

As an Electrical Engineer - Serviceability, you'll:
  • Partner with manufacturing, validation, and product development teams to drive Design for Serviceability requirements across electronic control modules and vehicle I/O systems.
  • Work closely with service documentation teams to develop diagnostic, programming, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.
  • Evaluate electronic control systems for part interchangeability, hardware/firmware/software compatibility, and bring-up requirements following component replacement.
  • Support spare parts and data file release strategies through compatibility and serviceability analysis.
  • Collaboratively design, develop, and validate onboard and offboard diagnostic tools used to report diagnostic codes, alerts, I/O data, and control functions.
  • Support wiring system serviceability, including harness routing, connectors, terminals, retention features, and schematic development for ease of repair and troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to integrate electrical and electromechanical systems into vehicle platforms.
  • Participate in requirements definition related to serviceability, product availability, and reliability, and help drive issue resolution when deviations are identified.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, connector end views, and pinouts
  • Familiarity with automotive diagnostic tools and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Familiarity with vehicle communication and networking protocols
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to manage projects

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with autonomous vehicle systems or technologies

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
