Job description
HireArt is helping our client find a hands-on Technician - RMA & Repair to join their Longueuil team.
In this role, you’ll operate at the intersection of quality and repair, investigating product failures and ensuring issues are resolved at the root cause. Your work will directly support customers and help maintain high production quality standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, methodical, and experienced in electronics troubleshooting and repair.
As a Technician - RMA & Repair, you will:
As a Technician - RMA & Repair, you will:
- Receive, log, and triage customer-returned units associated with RMA claims.
- Perform systematic failure analysis to identify root causes (electrical, mechanical, workmanship, or design-related).
- Document findings through clear, reproducible FA reports, including failure modes, supporting evidence, and recommended corrective actions.
- Conduct functional testing using multiple test stations to verify product integrity.
- Diagnose and rework PCBs using through-hole and SMD soldering techniques, including component-level replacement.
- Perform failure analysis on units flagged at inspection points (IQC, in-process, OQC).
- Identify defect trends and escalate systemic issues to Engineering and Quality teams.
- Support root cause investigations and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records within the quality management system.
- Follow SOPs, work instructions, and ESD handling protocols.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing, repair, or testing
- Proficiency in PCB soldering and rework (SMD and through-hole); IPC-7711/7721 certification is a plus
- Experience performing failure analysis and writing FA reports
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, BOMs, and work instructions
- Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies
- Strong attention to detail and a structured troubleshooting approach
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience using mechanical tools (e.g., hand tools, torque drivers, precision measurement tools)
- Full professional fluency in both French and English (written and spoken)
- Knowledge of IPC Class 2 standards is preferred
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with battery management systems or electromechanical assemblies
- Background in consumer electronics, EV, or mobility hardware
- Experience with Jira or similar ticketing systems
- Experience in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 workmanship standards
Commitment: This is a full-time, 7-month contract position staffed via HireArt. The role is onsite and available to candidates local to the Longueuil, Quebec, Canada area.
