Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire a Software Developer in Test (QA) to build and scale automated testing frameworks for critical systems.

In this role, you’ll design and implement functional and integration test automation for customer-facing and fleet systems. You’ll focus on improving test coverage, reducing manual effort, and ensuring the reliability of safety-critical tools through robust automation and edge-case validation.

The ideal candidate is a strong SDET (Software Developer in Test) with experience building scalable frameworks, working across complex systems, and driving automation in fast-paced environments.

As a Software Developer in Test (QA), you'll:
  • Design and build mocking frameworks to decouple mobile app testing from backend dependencies.
  • Architect, maintain, and optimize scalable test automation frameworks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve automation strategy and implementation.
  • Develop and expand Playwright-based automation to enhance regression coverage and efficiency.
  • Conduct vehicle mission testing and provide detailed reporting and analysis of results.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve testing processes and automation workflows.
  • Support ZPT triage by identifying, reproducing, and validating defects across Dev, Staging, and Production environments.
  • Partner with developers, QA leads, and product managers to ensure test completeness and release readiness.
  • Document test results, maintain traceability to requirements, and track issues through resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement in QA processes and automation practices.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience as a Software Developer in Test, including building automation frameworks and test suites
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Kotlin, Java, Swift, Python)
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies and automation design patterns
  • Experience with API testing and backend system validation
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud-based applications
  • Experience using AI tools or agents to enhance testing workflows
  • Proficiency with testing tools such as PyTest, Jira, and CI/CD platforms
  • Experience with infrastructure tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Nginx

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the San Diego, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
