Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire a Materials Specialist to support warehouse operations, inventory control, and quality hold management.

In this role, you’ll manage material flow across receiving, inspection, inventory, and fulfillment processes, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and alignment with production needs. You’ll partner closely with the materials and quality teams to support inventory analysis, resolve discrepancies, and keep operations running efficiently.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and hands-on, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

As a Materials Specialist, you'll:
  • Receive incoming materials and perform physical, visual, and documentation-based inspections.
  • Communicate with production and engineering teams to resolve receiving issues and discrepancies.
  • Manage inventory, including cycle counts, discrepancy investigations, and reporting on material status.
  • Process material movements in MRP systems, including creating work orders, transfers, and shipping/receiving transactions.
  • Pick and deliver parts to the production line and support internal material transfers.
  • Triage incoming materials for rework or scrap and ensure proper handling of returns and RMA processes.
  • Support production planning by consolidating pending parts and following up on material orders.
  • Maintain organized and clean warehouse, receiving, and inventory areas.
  • Ensure all quality documentation associated with shipments is accurate and complete.
  • Troubleshoot material flow issues and remove processing roadblocks.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of warehouse or inventory experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Experience with RMA, procurement, or return-to-vendor processes preferred
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Team-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced or startup environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform repetitive movements throughout the day
  • Ability to reach, crouch, crawl, stoop, kneel, climb, and balance as needed
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 25+ pounds

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
