HireArt is helping our client find a Database Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable, secure data infrastructure.
In this role, you’ll develop and manage high-performance data systems that support both application and analytics use cases. You’ll partner closely with application and data teams to design schemas, optimize performance, and automate operations using AWS and infrastructure-as-code. Your work will enhance system reliability, reduce costs, and enable efficient delivery from development through production.
The ideal candidate is a strong problem-solver with deep database expertise and experience building and maintaining scalable, cloud-based data systems.
As a Database Engineer, you'll:
As a Database Engineer, you'll:
- Design and implement scalable, efficient database solutions aligned with business needs.
- Install, configure, and upgrade database systems and related tools.
- Monitor performance and optimize queries, indexes, and schemas for reliability and speed.
- Implement and maintain database security controls to protect sensitive data.
- Collaborate with application teams to improve schema design and query performance.
- Troubleshoot incidents and provide timely resolution across environments.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including architecture diagrams and runbooks.
- Perform capacity planning and recommend infrastructure improvements.
- Manage AWS-based database services (e.g., RDS, Aurora, and Redshift).
- Stay current on emerging database technologies and best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a database engineer or DBA
- Strong experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code for database management
- Deep knowledge of database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Redshift)
- Proficiency in SQL and query optimization
- Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and schema design
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning and monitoring
- Knowledge of backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes
- Understanding of database security best practices
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Bonus Qualifications:
- Familiarity with AWS networking fundamentals
- Experience with Terraform Cloud or similar IaC workflows
- Experience with automation or scripting (Python, Shell)
- Experience with database CI/CD tools (e.g., Flyway, Bamboo, or similar)
