Job description
HireArt is helping our client find a Tax Administrative Assistant to support the tax team with Canadian tax compliance efforts.
In this role, you’ll provide short-term administrative support focused on reviewing financial records and reconciling transactions to ensure Canadian sales taxes are accurately accounted for and recoverable during the project period.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with high volumes of financial data in a fast-paced environment.
As a Tax Administrative Assistant, you'll:
As a Tax Administrative Assistant, you'll:
- Support the Tax team with administrative tasks, including organizing and categorizing tax-related documents and invoices.
- Review vendor invoices to verify that GST/HST and QST amounts are clearly itemized and audit-ready.
- Enter and track transaction data in spreadsheets to reconcile paid sales taxes against expected recoveries.
- Coordinate with internal teams to obtain missing receipts or required documentation.
- Review high-volume transaction reports to identify potential discrepancies, overpayments, or missing tax credits.
- Flag issues and provide updates to ensure progress toward project completion.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in an administrative, bookkeeping, or junior accounting role, preferably in a corporate environment
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of data accurately
- Basic understanding of Canadian sales taxes (GST/HST, QST) as they appear on invoices and receipts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas) and Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Docs)
- Strong communication skills for following up with internal teams on missing documentation
Commitment: This is a full-time, 8-week contract position staffed via HireArt. The role is hybrid, requiring onsite work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and is available to candidates local to the Toronto, Canada area.
