HireArt is helping our client find a Quality Metrology Technician to support the setup, execution, and continuous improvement of inspection and testing processes for sensors and computer hardware.
In this role, you’ll help ensure manufacturing processes and hardware systems meet high-performance and reliability standards. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering and quality teams to develop inspection strategies, validate components, and support hardware from prototype through production.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and highly collaborative, with strong experience in metrology, inspection, and quality processes across mechanical and electromechanical systems.
As a Quality Metrology Technician, you'll:
As a Quality Metrology Technician, you'll:
- Evaluate inspection requirements from Jira tickets, interpret inspection plans, and perform visual, functional, and dimensional measurements across a wide range of parts, including injection-molded, cast, 3D-printed, CNC-machined components, and electromechanical assemblies.
- Review supplier documentation to ensure compliance with quality and engineering requirements.
- Create and submit detailed quality documentation, including inspection reports, dimensional reports, functional test reports (FTRs), process and material certifications, rework instructions, temporary deviation orders (TDOs), packaging reports, and part submission warrants (PSWs) across systems such as Jira, RGBSI, 3DX, and internal quality logs.
- Document and track non-conformances through TDOs and Jira tickets, ensuring proper visibility and resolution.
- Maintain part traceability in accordance with internal quality standards.
- Perform metrology tasks using CMMs, 3D laser scanners, and other precision measurement equipment.
- Maintain calibration schedules for production and test equipment.
- Support root cause corrective action (RCCA) investigations to drive resolution of quality issues.
- Communicate findings clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- An associate degree in a relevant field
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in quality inspection or metrology
- Experience inspecting mechanical, electrical, or electronic components using precision measurement tools
- Experience defining and executing inspection criteria for CNC-machined and 3D-printed parts
- Basic knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and core quality tools (process flow charts, PFMEA, control plans, measurement system analysis)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings using GD&T methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with PC-DMIS programming
- Understanding of statistical sampling methods
- Working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets, Jira, and RGBSI
