Job description
HireArt is helping our client find an experienced Hardware Test & Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support daily production and test activities at a Longueuil-based facility.
In this role, you’ll execute validation testing, support test development, and troubleshoot production issues, while also helping maintain manufacturing processes, documentation, and performance metrics. You’ll play a key role in ensuring product quality, reliability, and production efficiency.
The ideal candidate is highly hands-on and capable of independent technical judgment. When issues arise on the production floor, you’ll take ownership of diagnosing and resolving them, systematically isolating root causes across hardware, software, and configuration before escalating when necessary.
As a Hardware Test & Manufacturing Engineering Technician, you will:
Test Engineering (50%)
As a Hardware Test & Manufacturing Engineering Technician, you will:
Test Engineering (50%)
- Execute durability, electrical, and functional validation testing at the component, module, and system levels.
- Run test plans across all phases using scripts, fixtures, and manual methods in collaboration with hardware, software, and firmware teams.
- Independently triage production test failures by analyzing outputs, forming hypotheses, and isolating root causes.
- Provide first-level technical support to production operators.
- Build, configure, and maintain production test stations and fixtures, including wiring, cable fabrication, and system validation.
- Support prototyping and validation of electromechanical assemblies, fixtures, and test systems.
Manufacturing Support (50%)
- Monitor manufacturing performance metrics such as line capacity, first-pass yield, and final yield, and drive corrective actions.
- Document inspections, tests, and audits; track non-conformities and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
- Maintain and improve knowledge-sharing resources to reduce repeat issues and escalations.
- Manage bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering change orders (ECOs) within PLM systems (e.g., Arena) and track tasks in Jira or similar tools.
Requirements
- Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in mechanical, electronics, industrial engineering, industrial automation, or a related field
- Experience as a hardware test or manufacturing engineering technician, with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems, with a structured approach to root cause analysis
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Hands-on experience with electronics debug tools (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, serial communication tools)
- Comfortable working in command-line environments (Windows and Linux), including editing configuration files (JSON, XML)
- Strong documentation skills, with the ability to maintain technical records, logs, and process documentation
- Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers
- Fluency in French and English (French is required)
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs in a production or warehouse environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Sheets
Nice-to-Have:
- Familiarity with serial communication protocols (e.g., UART, RS232, I2C) and embedded systems
- Basic Python scripting for test automation or data analysis
- Experience with mechanical or electrical design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Ansys, Altium, Eagle)
- Experience querying production data using SQL or similar tools
- Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Arena) and task management tools (e.g., Jira)
- Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini) to support documentation, debugging, or data analysis, with strong judgment to validate outputs
Commitment: This is a full-time, 9-month contract position staffed via HireArt. The role is onsite and available to candidates local to the Longueuil, Quebec, Canada area.
