Job description

HireArt is helping our client find a Validation Engineer to establish and execute a robust validation process, from requirements development through final report approval.

In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally to investigate failure modes, identify root causes, and implement mitigation strategies that inform future designs. You’ll manage both internal and external testing efforts, including supplier-led validation, to ensure products meet durability, reliability, and safety targets.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong experience in test and validation, comfortable working across electrical and mechanical systems, and skilled at translating requirements into structured validation plans.

As a Validation Engineer, you'll:
  • Develop, manage, and execute validation test plans covering mechanical, electrical, and environmental failure modes.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to define requirements and ensure they are accurately captured within validation plans.
  • Identify and configure appropriate test assets, data acquisition systems, and sensors to ensure high-quality data collection.
  • Analyze test data and deliver clear, concise reports on validation results.
  • Support DFMEA activities to ensure all potential failure modes are addressed within validation strategies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in test or validation within automotive, mechatronics, ECUs, or lighting systems
  • Experience with PCBA failure modes and electrical systems fundamentals
  • Familiarity with circuit design concepts (e.g., DC/DC converters, drivers, I2C)
  • Experience with communication protocols such as LIN, Ethernet, and Bluetooth
  • Experience using requirements management tools (e.g., Polarion or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with lab and measurement equipment, including DAQ systems, power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, accelerometers, thermocouples, CAN, LIN, and automotive Ethernet tools
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira and Kanban methodologies
  • Willingness to travel within the Bay Area, with potential for international travel

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD tools such as CATIA (3DX or V5) or SolidWorks
  • Experience with EMI/EMC validation
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as IEC 60068, GMW 3172, IEEE 802.3, USCAR, AEC, and IPC
  • Experience with Vector tools (e.g., CANalyzer or similar)
  • Experience with LED drivers or lighting systems (e.g., FMVSS 108)
  • Experience with infotainment systems
  • Familiarity with A2B communication protocols

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
