Job description

HireArt is helping May Mobility hire Autonomous Vehicle Safety Operators to be frontline team members who support safe vehicle operations during live passenger service and testing. Success in this role requires attentiveness, professionalism, strong judgment, and the ability to follow safety procedures closely.

This is a part-time for dependable, safety-minded people who are comfortable around technology. In this role, you’ll monitor autonomous vehicle performance during service, be ready to take control if necessary, assist passengers, and document issues clearly.

This opportunity may be a strong fit for people with experience in delivery driving, rideshare, warehouse, retail, customer service, security, transportation, general labor, or other safety-focused, hands-on work.

Completion of paid, online training is required.

Schedule Options:
  • Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ride in and monitor autonomous vehicles during live service
  • Stay ready to take manual control of the vehicle when needed
  • Use safe judgment and remain attentive in changing road and traffic conditions
  • Observe, document, and report unusual vehicle behavior or service issues
  • Enter clear, accurate notes using mobile tools and reporting systems
  • Help create a safe, professional, and positive rider experience
  • Answer basic passenger questions in a calm and professional manner
  • Follow company procedures, training, and safety protocols at all times
  • Maintain reliable attendance and readiness for a safety-sensitive work environment

What We’re Looking For
  • Strong safety awareness and the ability to stay focused and alert for extended periods
  • Good judgment and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, apps, or other digital tools
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow process consistently
  • Coachable, dependable, and able to learn quickly in a structured training environment
  • Professional, rider-friendly attitude

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 3+ years of driving experience with a clean driving record
  • Comfortable with driving Autonomous Vehicles
  • The ability to lift 30 lbs regularly
  • Comfortable pushing individuals in wheelchairs up a ramp and into a car
  • Must be able to complete paid online training and in-vehicle certification before starting independently
  • Must be able to pass a background check, MVR check, and drug screen (including THC)

Commitment: This is a part-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt and based on-site in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Note: hire is contingent upon a clear background check, MVR, and drug screen (including THC).
