Job description
HireArt is helping our client find a Cellular Systems Engineer to support the analysis, optimization, and performance of connectivity systems across advanced vehicle platforms.
In this role, you’ll work closely with field deployment, firmware, and software engineering teams to analyze device and network performance, identify root causes of connectivity issues, and drive improvements across cellular and wireless systems.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on systems engineer with deep expertise in cellular protocols, strong analytical skills, and experience troubleshooting complex end-to-end connectivity issues in real-world environments.
As a Cellular Systems Engineer, you'll:
As a Cellular Systems Engineer, you'll:
- Partner with field deployment and cross-functional engineering teams to collect, analyze, and interpret key device and service performance metrics.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for modem-level log analysis using tools such as Qualcomm QXDM/QCAT and Samsung ShannonDM.
- Develop automation tools and workflows to process large-scale log data and identify root causes of issues such as throughput degradation, handover failures, radio link failures, and connectivity instability.
- Analyze and interpret key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend system-level improvements to enhance end-to-end quality of service.
- Collaborate with system architecture and engineering teams to define requirements, design solutions, and prototype connectivity systems across 4G LTE, 5G NR, WiFi, and GPS domains.
- Support continuous improvement of connectivity performance through data-driven insights and architectural enhancements.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience working within the cellular protocol domain
- Deep understanding of 4G LTE and 5G NR air interfaces, including L1–L3 layers (PHY, MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRC, NAS)
- Familiarity with IEEE 802.11 protocols (a/b/g/n/ac/ax/6E/7) and TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- Hands-on experience with modem-level diagnostic tools such as QXDM/QCAT, ShannonDM, or Wireshark
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex end-to-end network performance issues, including mobility, interference, and call drops
- Strong proficiency in Python for automation, log analysis, and tooling development
- Understanding of RAN and core network architecture, with the ability to assess system-level performance across the full connectivity stack
Benefits:
- Pre-tax commuter benefits
- Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
- Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
- HireArt covers all costs for short and long-term disability and life insurance
