Job description
HireArt is helping our client find a Mechanical Design Engineer - Sustaining Infotainment to join the Advanced Hardware Engineering team.
In this role, you’ll design and launch systems that integrate infotainment and interior sensing components into an autonomous vehicle platform.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative mechanical engineer with strong experience designing electromechanical systems in complex vehicle environments. You are comfortable balancing cross-functional requirements while driving designs from concept through production.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer (Sustaining Infotainment), you'll:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer (Sustaining Infotainment), you'll:
- Design electromechanical assemblies while balancing requirements from multiple stakeholders, including studio designers, product managers, optical engineers, acoustics engineers, vehicle/package architects, and other vehicle design teams.
- Manage design and development activities across internal teams and external suppliers to deliver electromechanical systems successfully.
- Lead design validation and production validation efforts for your systems.
- Support test engineering, supplier quality engineering, and supplier teams with test design, failure analysis, and quality management.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and quality engineers to ramp production processes and meet build objectives.
- Maintain BOMs, document and approve build processes, and support quality and cost engineering across the supply chain.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of industry experience (automotive experience is preferred)
- Experience with 3D CAD design (CATIA V5/V6 is preferred)
- Experience designing electronic modules in an automotive environment
- Experience solving packaging, structural, thermal, and reliability challenges
- Experience managing engineering requirements and validation within an application lifecycle management (ALM) system
- Experience designing die-cast, injection-molded, and sheet metal components
- Knowledge of automotive sensing modalities, electromechanical behavior, and system integration challenges
- Experience developing products through the full lifecycle, from initial concept through production ramp
Bonus Qualifications:
- General aptitude with machining, 3D printing, hand tools, and electronics
- Experience managing international supply chains, including onsite supplier workshops and build audits
- Experience with human-machine interface (HMI) systems, audio design, or camera systems
- Proven track record launching high-volume electronics products
- Experience managing external suppliers (i.e., T1s and CMs)
