In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally with teams across hardware, firmware, software, vehicle engineering, procurement, and manufacturing. You will help drive end-to-end program execution, ensuring complex hardware and hardware/software integrated systems are delivered on schedule and aligned with company milestones.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical program leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, brings clarity to complex initiatives, and is comfortable coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines to drive successful outcomes.

As a Technical Program Manager - Hardware, you'll:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive program plans aligned with company priorities, vehicle milestones, and internal development processes.
  • Define workstreams, tasks, resource needs, and timelines in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Track program progress and dive into technical and operational details to ensure teams remain aligned and accountable to delivery targets.
  • Identify risks early, drive root cause analysis, and implement mitigation strategies to keep programs on track.
  • Own issue tracking and resolution processes, including maintaining strong Jira hygiene and ensuring timely resolution of cross-team requests.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership of results.
  • Develop clear reports and program summaries that communicate status, risks, issues, and milestones to key stakeholders and leadership.
  • Facilitate decision-making by preparing agendas, defining options, and supporting structured decision frameworks.
  • Partner with engineering and finance teams to plan and track resource needs, including headcount and budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of hardware program management or hardware engineering management experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience delivering complex hardware/software integrated systems across the full development lifecycle
  • Strong familiarity with hardware development processes for compute, controls, networking hardware platforms, or consumer electronics
  • Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Gantt charts, and Google Workspace
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and prototype suppliers
  • Ability to operate effectively in rapid development cycles and evolving technical environments
  • Strong ability to balance strategic planning with deep execution-level program management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel internationally is required (up to 10%)

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience leading three or more end-to-end hardware program development cycles, from architecture through mass production
  • Experience using AI or automation tools to improve program management workflows or team efficiency
  • Strong references demonstrating the ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and engineering teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.
