Job description

HireArt is helping our client find a Business Intelligence Engineer to embed within the connectivity team and translate complex telematics and cellular data into actionable business intelligence.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure used to monitor network performance, asset traceability, and cost efficiency across the company’s mission-critical vehicle fleet.

The ideal candidate is analytical, technically strong, and comfortable working closely with engineering teams to turn complex data into meaningful insights that drive operational decisions.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you'll:
  • Partner with IoT networking and engineering teams to define and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) for 4G/5G SA network health, private APN performance, and overall vehicle connectivity quality.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and modeling high-volume real-time data.
  • Integrate data from telematics control units (TCUs), test devices, carrier connectivity logs, and provisioning systems.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations in tools such as Databricks or Looker to provide real-time insights into network performance and fleet connectivity.
  • Monitor and analyze network availability, latency, throughput, and connectivity usage across the vehicle fleet.
  • Conduct carrier cost analysis and support initiatives focused on connectivity spend optimization.
  • Perform complex ad-hoc analyses to diagnose network anomalies, recurring connectivity failures, and irregular data usage patterns.
  • Maintain documentation for data models, schemas, and metric definitions to support data transparency and organizational data literacy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6+ years of experience in business intelligence, data engineering, or analytics engineering roles
  • Background in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Looker
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with dbt
  • Experience building dimensional data models
  • Ability to collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver impactful data solutions

Bonus Qualifications:
  • dbt certification
  • Experience working with Airflow
  • Background in analytics engineering
  • Experience analyzing infrastructure, networking, or telecommunications data

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
