Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Test Engineer, EE Systems Integration Lab who will support the team responsible for ensuring that electrical, electronic, and mechatronic systems are integrated and tested into systems and vehicles with a maximum of reliability and performance.

In this role, you will be responsible for operating a dynamometer and executing a defined test plan on vehicle-representative electrical test assets. You will work with system owners, firmware developers, technicians, and other test engineers to design and operate Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test assets.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience working in testing/engineering and has worked with HIL systems like dSPACE, CANoe, and LabVIEW (or similar).

As a Test Engineer, you'll:
  • Be trained to operate our dynamometer (dyno) to simulate driving conditions and trigger electrical fault injection on our HIL electrical test assets.
  • Execute electrical test cases (following test plan) on various systems (lighting, thermal, charging, powertrain, perception, safety, etc.) on both static and dynamic test assets.
  • Maintain, develop, and automate further functionality of existing HIL testing environments.
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams to understand firmware releases, fixes, and system compatibility.
  • Work with test requesters to assure successful system and subsystem performance.
  • Perform first level troubleshooting when a test fails or doesn’t perform as expected.
  • Set up data-logging hardware such as CANalyzer to capture and analyze CAN messages and logs to provide detailed information of test results.
  • Flash firmware on vehicle components with changes and updates tracking.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ work experience in testing/engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
  • Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical integration and testing of systems and subsystems
  • Experience with HIL systems like dSPACE, CANoe, and LabVIEW (or similar).
  • Experience in an R&D electronics environment or electrical testing lab
  • Experience with electronic lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, programmable power supplies, chillers, accelerometers, and torque sensors
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and efficiently coordinate demands from diverse development teams

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Firmware and test script programming experience (C/C++, Python)
  • Experience with Linux command-line interface and Linux file topology
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as Git
  • Experience with translating HW/SW requirements to test cases
  • Experience with axle-hub dynamometers
  • Previous experience diagnosing CAN or Ethernet network issues
  • Experience with automotive high-voltage systems (400VDC)

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. The role is onsite and available to candidates local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
