This is a three-week contract with the strong potential for additional projects throughout the year. All translators must reside in the United States. This assignment is part-time remote, but you can dictate your schedule, as hours are flexible.

What You’ll Do
  • Translate and localize approximately 6,500 words of website copy from English into Japanese.
  • Ensure messaging is culturally appropriate, natural-sounding, and aligned with brand voice.
  • Adapt marketing and product language for clarity, tone, and regional relevance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify intent, terminology, and context as needed.
  • Maintain consistency in technical terminology and style across all localized content.
  • Meet agreed-upon deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.

Requirements

  • Native or near-native fluency in Japanese
  • Strong English proficiency
  • Proven experience translating and localizing website, product, or marketing content
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuance and regional language usage
  • Excellent attention to detail and linguistic accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior localization or transcreation experience is strongly preferred

Nice to Have
  • Experience localizing content for technology, consumer products, or global brands
  • Familiarity with localization workflows, glossaries, or style guides
  • Availability for additional translation or localization work later in the year

Commitment: This is a 3-week independent contract position staffed via HireArt. It is remote and available to U.S.- based candidates.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
