Job description

HireArt is helping Toyota Research Institute find a Robot Operator to demonstrate new behaviors for its robots to learn.

In this role, you’ll be a key member of the team that does this instruction for the in-house robots.

As a Robot Operator, you will:
  • Operate robotic systems for a diverse range of tasks, including teleoperation using VR equipment and controllers.
  • Demonstrate tasks to robots for learning purposes and collect data to enhance robotic capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers to refine robotic operations and improve performance.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
  • Provide detailed feedback and reports on robot performance and any issues encountered.
  • Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of robotic systems and workstations.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time for off-site testing and data collection as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness; experience with VR or video games is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Physical ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform tasks that require physical dexterity
  • Eagerness to learn and grow, with a demonstrated ability to be coached and adapt to new challenges
  • This role requires extensive use of the Apple Vision Pro VR headset, and there are limits on the corrective lens inserts that can be produced, therefore vision must meet the requirements for lens inserts. Use of the headset may also cause motion sickness.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with robotics or mechanical systems
  • A passion for advancing robotic technology and applications
  • Technical literacy and the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • UNIX command line interface

Benefits:
  • PTO and paid holidays!
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. This position will be onsite and available to candidates able to work 4 10-hour days (M-Thur) and who are local to the Cambridge, MA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
