Job description
HireArt is seeking a Plant Supplier Quality Engineer to support quality assurance for supplier-provided components used on the assembly line. This role is critical to protecting production flow and ensuring that all incoming materials meet specifications at the point of use.
In this role, you’ll lead immediate containment for non-conforming parts, drive root cause and corrective actions, and partner cross-functionally to prevent quality issues from disrupting the assembly process.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

As a Plant Supplier Quality Engineer, you'll:
- Serve as the first responder to supplier material issues found on the line, in receiving, or in pre-assembly inspection. Implement immediate containment actions (e.g., sort, rework, scrap, stop shipment) to protect production.
- Manage in-plant disposition of non-conforming material, including raising and tracking Non-Conformance Reports and ensuring proper segregation and identification of affected parts.
- Lead corrective actions for in-plant supplier quality concerns, partnering with Manufacturing, Vehicle Engineering, and the upstream Supplier Quality Engineer.
- Assess the impact of part quality issues on assembly operations and support temporary updates to work instructions or process steps as needed.
- Analyze and report in-plant supplier quality metrics (e.g., line fallout, non-conformance trends, containment effectiveness) to leadership.
- Identify systemic quality risks from in-plant failures and collaborate with the SQE team to strengthen upstream APQP/PPAP processes and prevent recurrence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years’ experience in plant, manufacturing, or supplier quality within a high-volume production environment (automotive, aviation, or similar preferred)
- Strong understanding of assembly line operations and how material quality impacts production flow
- Demonstrated proficiency with structured problem-solving tools (8D, Six Sigma—Green/Black Belt preferred, Fishbone, 5 Whys, statistical analysis)
- Working knowledge of core quality tools: process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, SPC, and MSA
- Familiarity with APQP and PPAP methodologies, with the ability to evaluate their effectiveness based on in-plant performance
- Solid GD&T knowledge for rapid part assessment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Benefits:
- Pre-tax commuter benefits
- Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (Eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
- Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
- HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
- 401k package
Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. This role is onsite and available to candidates local to the Hayward, CA area.
HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
