Job description

HireArt is seeking an SOC Engineer to join its team. In this role, you’ll perform first-line issue review across multiple vehicle domains, analyze field and bring-up issues, and drive early root-cause direction to support timely resolution with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate is passionate about EV architecture and autonomous systems, excels at problem-solving, and consistently delivers clear, timely engineering insights.

As an SOC Engineer, you’ll:
  • Perform initial issue triage and system analysis for R&D fleet incidents.
  • Review CAN log data to identify the likely responsible system(s) and, when possible, pinpoint the root cause.
  • Provide the evidence required to support next steps and drive containment or corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with issue owners to determine how issues can be prevented in the future.
  • Work closely with module/component owners and suppliers to communicate findings and advance root-cause investigations.
  • Document analysis, methodologies, and updates through JIRA tickets and Confluence pages.
  • Report issues, risks, next steps, and support needs at both working-team and leadership-level meetings.
  • Identify potential improvements in system behavior and diagnostic coverage.
  • Travel to various company sites within the Bay Area as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (EE or Mechatronics preferred)
  • 5+ years of automotive engineering experience
  • Experience designing or testing vehicle systems (electrical and/or mechanical)
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to rapidly understand and work across complex systems
  • Experience with electrical and vehicle network architecture (CAN, LIN)
  • Hands-on electrical troubleshooting experience (DMM, oscilloscope, schematics, logic analyzers, HIL systems, etc.)
  • Experience setting up CAN, LIN, and A/D measurement systems (Vector, Memorator, INCA, Intrepid, dSPACE, IPEtronic, CSM, Dewesoft, etc.)
  • Knowledge of vehicle engineering or software validation processes (8D, FMEA, structured problem-solving)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organization and leadership abilities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously
  • Experience using JIRA and Confluence

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with infotainment, connectivity, telematics, or automotive Ethernet
  • Python programming and automation tool development
  • Experience with Grafana or similar data analysis toolsets
  • Diagnostics development experience

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (Eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. This role is onsite and available to candidates local to the Foster City, CA area.
