Job description
HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Quality Engineer, Advanced Hardware Manufacturing, to develop processes and systems that ensure hardware products meet the highest engineering standards.
In this role, you’ll lead cross-functional quality initiatives across design, production, and supplier operations, advancing QMS practices, validation processes, and first-time-right product development for complex electro-mechanical systems.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, technically driven quality engineer with experience in design or manufacturing (automotive, medical devices, robotics, semiconductor, or aerospace). You’re a self-starter who communicates effectively, thinks critically, and drives scalable, high-quality solutions across teams.

As a Quality Engineer, Advanced Hardware Manufacturing, you'll:
- Serve as the primary quality liaison between cross-functional teams for hardware development and sustaining engineering (e.g., LiDARs, cameras, and complex electro-mechanical assemblies).
- Lead failure investigations and root cause analyses as part of the Non-Conformance and CAPA process.
- Participate in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities and guide teams in maintaining quality documentation, including:
- Quality Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, Validation Reports, and Inspection Reports
- Material and Process Certifications, Functional Test Reports (FTRs), and Part Submission Warrants (PSWs)
- Develop and monitor Incoming (IQC), In-Process (IPQC), and Outgoing (OQC) standards and metrics to improve quality performance.
- Support the refinement of procedures, work instructions, and QMS processes aligned with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
- Apply statistical analysis (e.g., Minitab) to evaluate process stability, variation, and long-term performance trends.
- Communicate quality issues clearly across disciplines, drive consensus on corrective actions, and promote continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s is preferred)
- 6+ years of experience in design or manufacturing quality within a high-precision, complex product environment (e.g., automotive, semiconductor, medical device, robotics, or aerospace)
- Proven ability to build and improve Quality Management Systems (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 standards
- Strong technical and analytical skills with experience interpreting drawings, specifications, and validation data
- Proficiency in root cause analysis, CAPA, and PPAP processes
- Working knowledge of statistical tools (e.g., Minitab) for process control and variation analysis
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills and ability to drive problem resolution collaboratively
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Self-starter with a consultative mindset and minimal need for ramp-up time
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with LiDAR, radar, sensor, or camera hardware
- Experience helping build or scale a QMS from the ground up
- Exposure to complex electro-mechanical assemblies or software-controlled capital equipment
Benefits:
- Pre-tax commuter benefits
- Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (Eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
- Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
- HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
- 401k package
Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. This role is onsite and available to candidates local to the Foster City, CA area.
HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
