Job description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Senior Studio Engineer to bridge creative design and engineering, transforming early-stage concepts into functional, production-ready vehicles.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in the concept phase by developing technical inputs from scratch and ensuring designs meet high standards of safety, performance, and manufacturability. You’ll work closely with Industrial Design, Engineering, and Digital Modeling teams to balance aesthetics with feasibility and ensure seamless collaboration across disciplines.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in early-phase vehicle development, is fluent in CATIA V6 and 3DX (3DEXPERIENCE), and thrives in an ambiguous, fast-evolving environment. You’re hands-on, technically sharp, and proactive in shaping innovative design solutions.

As a Senior Studio Engineer, you'll:
  • Lead the concept development of new vehicle platforms, ensuring technical feasibility and innovative design alignment.
  • Independently create CAD studies and feasibility analyses to support industrial design exploration.
  • Establish and maintain engineering criteria that balance design intent and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate across studio, modeling, and engineering teams to review designs, resolve issues, and ensure aesthetic and technical compliance.
  • Support studio modeling activities and oversee surface development, mock-ups, and prototype creation.
  • Manage and release criteria-compliant surface data and track design and engineering issues throughout program milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
  • 8+ years of related experience, including 5+ years in an automotive design studio with focus on concept-phase vehicle development
  • Proven ability to develop engineering inputs and CAD models independently with limited guidance
  • Mandatory proficiency in CATIA V6 and 3DX (3DEXPERIENCE); experience with CATIA V5 acceptable only with strong concept-phase experience
  • Solid understanding of automotive design theory and manufacturing processes
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (Eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. This role is onsite and available to candidates local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
