HireArt is helping TRI hire a Senior UX Generalist - Carbon Neutrality who is equally skilled in user research and hands-on design.
In this role, you’ll bridge discovery and prototyping by uncovering insights, shaping concepts, building high-fidelity prototypes, and iterating based on what you learn. You’ll work independently to turn early-stage ideas into actionable insights, collaborating with cross-functional teams to inform product direction.

As a Senior UX Generalist, you will:

As a Senior UX Generalist, you will:
- Plan and conduct user research (interviews, usability testing, etc.) to uncover user needs and evaluate prototypes.
- Synthesize research into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- Develop prototypes that go beyond wireframes, incorporating interaction design, motion, and visual design elements.
- Run iterative cycles of prototyping, testing, and refinement to quickly identify promising solutions.
- Work independently to define your approach, set priorities, and adjust methods as projects evolve.
- Communicate findings and design recommendations clearly to senior cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience in UX research, UX design, or a hybrid UX role
- Proven strength in both research and design, able to independently lead studies and produce sophisticated prototypes
- Strong foundation in qualitative and survey-based research methods
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, early-stage problem spaces
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive projects with limited oversight
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills
- A portfolio that demonstrates both UX design (flows, interaction design, prototypes) and UX research work (studies, synthesis, insights)
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience working with emerging technologies or experimental projects
- Statistical analysis skills (R, SPSS, SAS)
- Front-end development experience
- Ability to work onsite in Los Altos, CA 1-2 days per week
