In this role, you will design, develop, improve, and maintain user stories/experiences for automotive customers interacting with both audible and visual AI.

We're looking for someone with a relevant Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in UX engineering, front‑end development, or interactive prototyping, who also has strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance usability, aesthetics, and technical feasibility.

As a Senior UX Engineer, you'll:
  • Apply your expertise in design best practices, particularly in automotive, and for both voice agent and visual design.
  • Design, develop, improve, and maintain user stories/experiences for automotive customers interacting with both audible and visual AI.
  • Lead the development of user experience for team projects.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset across technology stacks and leverage experience to develop solutions with sound design principles, extensibility, and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, Design, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in UX engineering, front‑end development, or interactive prototyping
  • Experience in UX design involving either AI or ML components (plus if it was in automotive)
  • Familiarity with design systems, component libraries, and code-based prototyping tools (e.g., Storybook, Figma API)
  • Experience creating user stories
  • Skilled at translating design mockups/wireframes into functional, accessible interfaces
  • Experience collaborating closely with UX designers, product managers, and developers, to deliver high-quality user experiences
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to balance usability, aesthetics, and technical feasibility
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Generalist attitude and willingness to learn continuously
  • Ability to operate effectively/autonomously across multiple teams and navigate technical design ambiguity with only high-level direction

Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience with automotive software design, ideally for ADAS
  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular)

Benefits:
  • PTO and paid holidays!
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short and long term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, 6-month contract position staffed via HireArt. This role will be onsite and available to candidates local to the Ann Arbor, MI area.
