The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of automotive systems (mechanical, electrical, and software) as well as AV-specific hardware (LiDAR, cameras, radars, and embedded compute systems). You’ll work closely with engineering, operations, and remote support teams to keep vehicles safe, available, and mission-ready.

As an Autonomous Vehicle Technician, you’ll:
  • Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and scheduled maintenance on AVs, including ADAS sensors and base vehicle systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and computer-based issues using OEM tools and proprietary diagnostic platforms.
  • Respond rapidly via Slack to faults or alerts, resolving issues or coordinating vehicle recovery.
  • Facilitate hardware/software retrofits and updates, collaborating closely with engineering teams.
  • Document all work: fault logs, resolutions, parts used, and vehicle downtime.
  • Ensure fleet vehicles are show-ready for deployments or demos.
  • Enforce health and safety standards, use safe work procedures, and conduct risk assessments.
  • Participate in on-site support or remote field assistance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of automotive technician experience, or equivalent vocational/technical training
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems (CAN, HV systems, sensors)
  • Comfortable working with EVs and hybrid drive systems
  • Strong computer skills (diagnostic software, Google Suite, JIRA, database logging)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact with engineers and operations teams
  • Strong safety-first mindset, familiar with OSHA or equivalent procedures

Preferred Experience:
  • ASE or OEM technician certifications
  • Experience with sensor calibration, lidar/radar systems, and embedded modules
  • Exposure to Linux-based systems
  • Previous experience in AV field operations, depot support, or R&D fleet environments

Benefits:
  • PTO and paid holidays!
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, 6-month contract position staffed via HireArt. This position will be onsite and available to candidates local to the Mountain View, CA area.
