Job description
HireArt is helping our client find Autonomous Vehicle Technicians to join its team. In this role, you will serve as the frontline technical expert maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing the fleet of autonomous vehicles (AVs).
The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of automotive systems (mechanical, electrical, and software) as well as AV-specific hardware (LiDAR, cameras, radars, and embedded compute systems). You’ll work closely with engineering, operations, and remote support teams to keep vehicles safe, available, and mission-ready.
As an Autonomous Vehicle Technician, you’ll:
The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of automotive systems (mechanical, electrical, and software) as well as AV-specific hardware (LiDAR, cameras, radars, and embedded compute systems). You’ll work closely with engineering, operations, and remote support teams to keep vehicles safe, available, and mission-ready.
As an Autonomous Vehicle Technician, you’ll:
- Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and scheduled maintenance on AVs, including ADAS sensors and base vehicle systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and computer-based issues using OEM tools and proprietary diagnostic platforms.
- Respond rapidly via Slack to faults or alerts, resolving issues or coordinating vehicle recovery.
- Facilitate hardware/software retrofits and updates, collaborating closely with engineering teams.
- Document all work: fault logs, resolutions, parts used, and vehicle downtime.
- Ensure fleet vehicles are show-ready for deployments or demos.
- Enforce health and safety standards, use safe work procedures, and conduct risk assessments.
- Participate in on-site support or remote field assistance.
Requirements
- 3+ years of automotive technician experience, or equivalent vocational/technical training
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems (CAN, HV systems, sensors)
- Comfortable working with EVs and hybrid drive systems
- Strong computer skills (diagnostic software, Google Suite, JIRA, database logging)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact with engineers and operations teams
- Strong safety-first mindset, familiar with OSHA or equivalent procedures
Preferred Experience:
- ASE or OEM technician certifications
- Experience with sensor calibration, lidar/radar systems, and embedded modules
- Exposure to Linux-based systems
- Previous experience in AV field operations, depot support, or R&D fleet environments
