HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire a Fleet Support Engineer, Powertrain, to ensure the operational uptime and reliability of its cutting-edge fleet, with a specific focus on powertrain systems.
In this role, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for real-time escalations regarding powertrain and vehicle dynamics issues.
We're looking for a technical expert who excels at collaborating with cross-functional teams, meticulously documenting troubleshooting processes, and providing immediate, impactful support for daily fleet operations.
As Fleet Support Engineer, you'll:
In this role, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for real-time escalations regarding powertrain and vehicle dynamics issues.
We're looking for a technical expert who excels at collaborating with cross-functional teams, meticulously documenting troubleshooting processes, and providing immediate, impactful support for daily fleet operations.
As Fleet Support Engineer, you'll:
- Conduct in-depth root cause analysis to implement both interim and permanent corrective actions.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to powertrain performance, energy consumption, and charging.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive troubleshooting guides for powertrain components to empower field technicians and drive knowledge sharing.
- Validate and perform component and vehicle bring-up/functional verification procedures, with a focus on powertrain systems.
- Tune and validate powertrain control parameters to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Analyze large datasets to proactively identify systematic issues and recommend preventative actions.
- Be available for night and weekend shifts as needed, with advanced notice provided.
- Be willing to travel occasionally to support various operational locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or automotive engineering
- 2+ years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles, with a focus on powertrain, energy storage, or charging system
- Able to pass a background check, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check, and drug screen
- Must comply with the Substance Abuse Policy
- Ability to safely troubleshoot low-voltage and high-voltage systems
- Hands-on experience with powertrain systems, including but not limited to electric motors, inverters, and battery management systems
- Deep understanding of electric vehicle (EV) technology and powertrain control strategies
- Proficiency in vehicle dynamics and control systems
- Proficiency with interpreting electrical schematics, harness diagrams, and state machine diagrams
- Experience with debugging Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) issues
- Embrace a holistic problem-solving approach, identifying issues across high-level vehicle functions and driving resolutions down to component-level detail
- A proactive self-starter who can build strong relationships and communicate efficiently and effectively across various teams and in real-time service operation settings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the following:
- Powertrain simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ADAMS)
- Electric vehicle technology
- Remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting
- Linux & Python-based programming systems for fleet-level data processing
- GPS/RTS debugging
- Familiarity with CAN bus messaging specific to powertrain and charging systems
- Knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics tools
