Job description

HireArt is helping our client find a detail-oriented Hardware Integration Technician (Autonomous Systems) to join its team responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining the complex sensor systems, computing modules, and support hardware that power our autonomous platforms.

In this role, you will be at the intersection of automotive and consumer electronics, perfect for those who can fix an iPhone and build a workstation from parts. You will be able to blend skills from IT hardware assembly, electronics repair, and automotive integration.

As a Hardware Integration Technician, you'll:
  • Build and install computer systems, sensors, and peripheral modules into vehicles.
  • Identify and fix hardware issues—whether it’s a faulty cable, a misconfigured BIOS, or a misaligned sensor.
  • Swap out and upgrade CPUs, GPUs, RAM, SSDs, and sensor modules as needed.
  • Manage neat and functional internal cabling (USB, Ethernet, CAN, power, video).
  • Assist with basic BIOS/UEFI configuration and driver installation.
  • Test system functionality, verify connections, and apply ESD-safe practices.
  • Work with mechanics, engineers, and software specialists to ensure seamless platform integration.

Requirements

  • Ability to assemble, upgrade, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, or similar systems
  • Comfortable replacing screens, batteries, and logic boards and diagnosing electrical issues
  • Understanding of ports, connectors, and common sensor types (USB, Ethernet, CAN, etc.)
  • Precision and care when mounting and wiring hardware in confined spaces
  • Strong problem-solving ability with basic knowledge of system-level debugging
  • High standards for build quality, neatness, and reliability
  • Use of ESD protection and safe handling of PSUs and power cabling
  • Able to work independently while communicating clearly within a multidisciplinary team

Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience soldering and repairing mobile electronics (e.g., iPhones, tablets, drones)
  • Familiarity with Linux installation and configuration
  • Automotive or EV experience is a plus, but not required

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will be onsite and available to candidates local to the Austin, TX area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas.
