About the Sales Associate Role
This is not a traditional SDR role. You’ll be joining a small, entrepreneurial team where you’ll help build pipeline, support sales operations, collaborate on marketing initiatives, and occasionally visit school sites to support product implementation.
You’ll work closely with sales leaders, develop your own systems and processes, and gain exposure to the full sales lifecycle. Ideal for former educators ready to transition into tech sales while staying connected to K–12 impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
Business Development (50%+)
You will play a critical role in generating top-of-funnel opportunities:
- Prospecting K–12 districts and charter networks
- Conducting research, cold outreach, email campaigns, and phone calls
- Collaborating with Account Executives to qualify leads and book meetings
- Tracking activity and progress in a CRM
- Testing new outreach strategies and channels
Sales Generalist (≈40%)
You’ll support a wide mix of sales team functions, including:
- Responding to and qualifying inbound inquiries
- Researching district prospects and ensuring curriculum fit
- Supporting meeting prep for Account Executives
- Assisting with development of one-pagers, customer stories, and conference materials
- Helping with conference applications, submissions, and vendor requirements
- Maintaining CRM accuracy and helping build scalable team systems
School Support (≈10%)
Occasional in-person support for existing pilot or partner districts:
- Observing implementations
- Gathering insights from teachers and administrators
- Supporting short pilot cycles
Who We’re Looking For
Required
- 3+ years of classroom teaching experience (K–12)
- Strong interest in transitioning into tech sales
- Mission-driven: passionate about improving teaching, learning, and literacy outcomes
- Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable in a fast-changing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High resilience, confidence in cold outreach, and ability to build rapport
Preferred
- 1+ year of experience in sales, business development, or related work
- Experience supporting high-quality ELA curricula or ELL/MLL students
- Experience working in early-stage or scrappy environments
- Ability to create professional-looking sales collateral
- Experience using CRM tools (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar)
